Crazy Good Sangria Recipe for Fall

Crazy Good Sangria Recipe for Fall

I am sooooo excited!  It’s that time of year again…

I am talking about cool, crisp air and evenings sitting outside by the fire sipping one of my all time favorite sangria treats!!!  I made this for the first time last year for a family gathering and it was a HUGE hit!!!

Crazy Good Honeycrisp Apple Sangria:

2 Honeycrisp apples
One 750-milliliter bottle
unoaked Chardonnay
1/3 C. peach Schnapps
1/4 C. pisco (I could not find this so
I used a bit more peach schnapps)
1/4 C. honey (Orange Blossom Honey
worked beautifully)
2 oranges- 1 quartered
1 lemon – quartered
1 lime – quartered
2 cinnamon sticks
2 quarter-size slices of fresh ginger
3 whole cloves
2 T. sugar
1/2 t. ground cinnamon
Ice
Club soda (used ginger ale)
Mint sprigs – for garnish

Peel, core and chop one of the apples. In a bowl, combine the Chardonnay, Schnapps, pisco (if you can’t find just add in more Schnapps) and honey. Add the quartered orange, the lemon, lime, cinnamon sticks, the chopped apple, ginger and cloves and refrigerate at least 4 hours. (I let mine sit overnight.)

Strain the sangria into a pitcher. Peel, core and finely chop the remaining apple. Peel, section and chop the remaining orange. Mix the apple and orange in a bowl.

On a small plate, blend the sugar and cinnamon. Moisten the rims of wine glasses with an orange slice and dip in the cinnamon sugar to coat. Fill the glasses with ice. Pour in the sangria until three-quarters full. Top with a splash of club soda (ginger ale). Garnish with a spoonful of the chopped apple and orange and a mint sprig.

AMAZING!!!!  If you have a favorite fall sangria recipe please share it with me – one can never have too many sangria recipes!!!! 🙂

Salad With Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette

Salad With Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette

‘Tis strawberry season here in the South so I have a ‘crazy good’ family favorite for you which is perfect for this time of year…

This side dish is a delicious compliment to any meal!

Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette

  • 2 -3 teaspoons strawberry jam (I use homemade freezer jam)
  • 1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 3 Tablespoons EVOO (extra virgin olive oil)
  • Salt/Pepper to taste

Place jam and vinegar in a bowl and whisk.  Pour EVOO in slowly and continue to whisk vigorously.  Salt and pepper to taste.  This is best made ahead of time so the flavors can get’ all married up and everything’.     🙂   Make a double batch of this vinaigrette so you can have a salad for lunch the next day.  You will want to – it is that good!!!

Garden Fresh Salad

  • Mixed baby spring greens
  • 1 pint strawberries, sliced
  • Roasted walnuts (optional)
  • Gorgonzola cheese (optional)

Use greens of your choice – we prefer mixed baby spring greens from our garden on the front lawn.  Pour vinaigrette over greens and toss gently.  Add roasted walnuts and gorgonzola if desired (we DESIRE big time – such a great combination of flavors!).  Spread sliced strawberries over the top of the greens.

Serve and enjoy!
